WordPress Backups

7th Jan 2007

Something most people are guilty of is not backing up their blogs often enough, relying on their web host’s backups to save them in the event of catastrophe. This generally isn’t a good idea, I’ve seen numerous reports where people thought their data was backed up properly only for their host to go down and the host then finds out their backups weren’t working, or were corrupt. Backups of your data are best kept in your own hands.

In WordPress backups are nice and easy, there’s a plugin installed by default in WordPress 2 and higher, although you still have to activate and use it. Tubetorial has a great tutorial video which runs you through activating the plugin, sorting out any errors and preforming a simple backup. It could save you a lot of hassle if the worst happens.
